At-the-Mirror Answers
Short, honest answers to the questions that come up mid-routine. Where a question needs a professional, we say so.
Finishes & trends
Is a trend product better than what I already own?
Not necessarily. Break the look into finish, placement and mood. You can often recreate it by changing tool or placement with products you already have. See Trend Lens.
What's the difference between shimmer and glitter?
Shimmer uses very fine reflective particles that blend into a soft sheen; glitter uses larger, distinct particles that catch light individually and usually need a dedicated base.
Why does my makeup look different on camera?
Cameras, ring lights and filters flatten dimension and can exaggerate or erase shine and texture. Check your look in daylight at arm's length, then where you'll actually be.
Can I use craft glitter on my face?
No. Use only glitter sold as a cosmetic and labelled for the area you intend. Cosmetic colourants are regulated for specific uses, for example under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
Tools & technique
Should I apply cream before powder?
As a general principle, yes: liquids and creams first, powders on top. Powder over cream sets it; cream over powder can drag or patch.
Are synthetic brushes worse than natural hair?
No. Synthetic fibres work cleanly with liquids and creams, wash easily, and many are engineered for powder too. Choose by shape and density first. See Application.
How often should I clean makeup brushes?
Many artists wash brushes used with liquids and creams weekly and powder brushes slightly less often. Damp sponges benefit from frequent washing. Adjust to your use.
Labels, limits & us
What does the open-jar symbol mean?
It's the period-after-opening (PAO) symbol. "12M" means the product is intended to be used within 12 months of opening. More in our hygiene guide.
Can makeup treat skin conditions?
Cosmetics are intended to change appearance, not to treat or prevent disease. For skin concerns, please consult a pharmacist, GP or dermatologist.
Does Tiny Pavilion Bunch recommend brands?
No. We're independent, unsponsored and focus on categories, finishes and techniques. Read more on Our Lens.
